Demetria Kalodimos is probably the most trusted news name in Nashville. Her leadership and reporting at WSMV have won numerous awards, and tonight you can see her documentary called, 'Indelible: The Case Against Jeffery Womack.'
In 1975, Marica Trimble was a 9 year old girl delivering girl scout cookies, and never returned home. The main suspect in the Green Hills murder was a 15 year old neighbor, Jeffery Womack.
From that moment on, for 30 plus years, Jeffery was considered the prime suspect. Finally arrested for the murder, and then released for lack of evidence. That's where this story comes in. Jeffery would have to live most of his life under the suspicion of this murder.
It wasn't until 2009 that Jerome Barrett was convicted of the murder through DNA.
Check out the new book, 'The Suspect: A Memoir.'
It was written by Jeffery's lawyer the entire time, John Hollins, and Nashville writer Tom Wood. Here's the Facebook page.
Demetria Kalodimos has made a documentary about this book, and you can see it tonight at 7:30p at the Belcourt.
As Demetria says in our interview, "Sometimes you don't have to go to jail to be in prison."
Here's Demetria talking about it with me on 1059:

In addition to her award winning news career, Demetria loves film. Check out her company Genuine Human Productions.
I asked Demetria if there's a 'Joe Elvis' production in the works, evidently not.
