Ever since I can remember, I have had a fascination with Rock and Roll. I think it started with my Father taking me as a child to see the Rolling Stones. I grew up listening to and/or seeing Steppenwolf, Led Zepplin, Jefferson Airplane, Hendrix, The Who, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Rush, and many more bands too numerous to name. I wanted to play the guitar like Pete Townsend or Jimmy Page but never was able. The next best thing, I thought, was to become a radio DJ and play their music. First job in Clarksville, then just outside Evansville, Ind. Landed in Nashville Radio and worked for many years at one of the top Heritage Rockers in the country. Worked with some of the best radio people I ever knew including the late Patty Murray, Carl P., The Duke, Dave Walton, Mr. Bill, Shannon, Joe Elvis, David Hall, Ian Case, B. Derek, and Kidd Redd. Everything was great until management decided to adjust the music. At first, it was cool but they did not stop with cool. They totally crashed that great station into the ground and then resurrected it to a horrible Country format. Jimmy couldn’t play that and left the building.
Six weeks later, I was hired by 1059 The Rock, the greatest Classic Rock Station in the world!! I have never enjoyed working in radio more in my entire life. We play a fantastic variety of the best Classic Rock ever recorded and it is my privilege to work again with Joe Elvis along with Mud, Proud Mary and Squeegie. I'm on mornings with John Boy & Billy Monday thru Friday, then stick around till 10:00A. Also, catch me Saturdays from 9A to 3P and whenever Laura Steele or Elvis take off. Thanks for listening.

Goodbye To An Old Friend
This weekend, I lost an old friend. Long time Nashville radio personality, David Hall (Rocks Y'all) , passed away.
I first worked with David in the late 70's at 108FM, an Album Rock (that's what we called Rock radio then) station on the TN/KY border in the Clarksville/Ft. Campbell/Hopkinsville area. David was my Program Director but also my room mate for 3 1/2 years and became a good friend.
David left Clarksville radio in 1980 and became an Air Talent on then Nashville Rock station, 103 KDF. I came to Nashville radio a few months later, landing a weekend gig at Rock 106 WKQB (ironically, that station years later became 1059 The Rock). In 1982, I again had the privlege of working with David at KDF. David eventually left KDF and worked at then rock station 104.5 The Fox , and then on to Lightning 100 in 1993 where he remained until his untimely death.
He was a class act and one of the most decent human beings I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I will miss you, my friend.
