About Da Dawg
He started doing sportstalk in the early 80's after his miniscule College Football career ended with a knee injury. "I was a Run-stopping Linebacker in a Passing Conference, so I was only in on third-and-short situations anyways". When he couldn't play anymore, the radio station at Weber State University asked The DogFather if he would do sports for the station. That's all he needed, he was off and running. Radio took him all over, and every place he went he made his mark....or rather....LEFT his mark. "They're still cleaning up after an incident I left in California". Tim has done his talk show in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Denver and Cincinnati. He also spent two years as a Nationally Syndicated Host on the Sports Entertainment Network, and One on One Sports Radio Network (now Sporting News Radio). He is an 8-time Sportscaster of the Year in three states, and has been recognized for his sports reporting, anchoring and play by play by the Associated Press, California Broadcasters Assoc., Utah Broadcasters Assoc,. Colorado Broadcasters Assoc. and has multiple Golden Mic, Mark Twain and Society of Professional Journalists awards.
The Big Dog was a fixture in Cincinnati Radio in the 90's, starting The Score and was the station's only local host, and its Program Director. In 2001, he packed up the family and moved out west....developing a Fox Sports Station in Salt Lake City. Later moving to Denver to work for an ESPN station, and KOA -- The home of the Broncos and Rockies.
Tim has covered and/or done shows from 3 Super Bowls, 2 NBA Finals, 2 NCAA Final Fours, 6 Kentucky Derbys and 1 World Series. Not to mention the countless number of College Football and Basketball games he's covered, broadcast, attended or been thrown out of . WHAT?
He has coached football from Pop Warner to Semi-Pro, and loves the interaction with kids learning the game and those still hanging onto the game.
He counts his biggest accomplishment at being the Father of 5 boys. The oldest is 22, the youngest is 10, and is a true 'Mini-me'. He is single ONCE AGAIN, and currently makes his home on the West Side of Cincinnati.

It was another efficient if unspectacular performance from Florida. Just don't call it ho-hum. The Gators won their 20th straight in a 24-14 win over South Carolina, finishing their first perfect SEC regular season since 1996.
A visit to Mississippi State proved to be no trouble for Alabama. A couple of long TD passes from Greg McElroy and a couple of TD runs from Mark Ingram paired with a suffocating defensive performance powered the Tide in a 31-3 victory.
The Longhorns led Baylor 40-0 at halftime before taking their foot off the pedal in a 47-14 win. The win was the 42nd for Colt McCoy as a starting QB, tying Georgia's David Greene for the all-time FBS mark.
Try as Gary Patterson might, it's hard not to look forward and envision the possible scenarios surrounding TCU's future after a 55-28 win over Utah. The Horned Frogs have Wyoming and New Mexico remaining on their schedule.
The Bearcats maintained their perfection but they were far from perfect in a 24-21 win over WVU. Tony Pike chipped in two touchdown passes in his brief cameo and backup RB Isaiah Pead ran for a career-high 175 yards and a TD for the Bearcats.
The combination of Kellen Moore and Austin Pettis alone was too much for Idaho as the pair connected for four touchdowns in Boise State's 63-25 romp. Moore tied a career high with five touchdown passes.
GT has been the closet the ACC has had to a sure thing, but even the Yellow Jackets flirted with disaster early against Duke, falling behind 10-0. But 49 unanswered points later, they earned the win and a place in the ACC title game.
Jonathan Baldwin (five catches, 142 yards) and Dion Lewis (152 yards rushing) each delivered highlight-reel TDs in Pitt's 27-22 win over ND. Pitt visits WVU on Nov. 27, but the one that matters most is the title-deciding tilt against Cincinnati on Dec. 5.
It took the boot of a former professional soccer player, but Ohio State is headed back to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 13 years. Devin Barclay's field goal gave the Buckeyes a 27-24 OT win over Iowa, their fourth straight.
LeGarrette Blount suited up but didn't play. Oregon didn't need him as his replacement, LaMichael James, continued to excel with 150 yards and three touchdowns as the Ducks rebounded from last week's loss to Stanford with a 44-21 win over Arizona State.
With Charles Scott sidelined for the remainder of the season, LSU needed a spark in its backfield. Keiland Williams provided it, rushing for 116 yards and two TDs in a 24-16 win over Louisiana Tech, a game in which the Tigers trailed at halftime.
Toby Gerhart added to USC's misery and continued Stanford's recent run of fortune with 178 yards rushing and three TDs in a 55-21 win. The win puts the Cardinal at 6-2 in the Pac-10, with only a visit from Cal left in their league schedule.
A week after seeing its bid for a perfect season end, Iowa had its hopes of a Big Ten title dashed in overtime in a 27-24 loss to Ohio State. The Hawkeyes end their regular season with a visit from Minnesota.
Oklahoma State stopped Texas Tech in the final minute to preserve a 24-17 win over the Red Raiders. Patrick Lavine's 21-yard interception return in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference for the Cowboys.
Penn State overcame an ugly first half to beat Indiana 31-20 on Senior Day. Daryll Clark rushed and threw for a TD and Navorro Bowman returned an INT 73 yards for a TD to lead the Nittany Lions.
The Hokies' slim hopes of reaching the ACC title game were dashed with Georgia Tech's win. But the Hokies rode a career-high three touchdowns from Tyrod Taylor and 126 rushing yards from Ryan Williams to a 36-9 win over Maryland.
If anyone doubted that C.J. Spiller was among the most devastating all-around players in the country, the RB set out to settle the argument in a 43-23 win over NC State in which he rushed for a TD, caught a TD pass and even threw a TD pass.
Wisconsin added to Michigan's misery with a 45-24 win over the Wolverines. Scott Tolzien threw for 240 yards and four TDs and added a rushing TD for the Badgers.
Oregon State's win over Stanford in early October is suddenly working in the Beavers' favor. Jacquizz Rodgers ran for 159 yards and two TDs and Sean Canfield tossed four TD passes in a 48-21 win over Washington, the third straight for the Beavers.
BYU held off a resilient New Mexico team desperate for its first win, and the Cougars won 24-19. Max Hall threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns in the 29th victory of his career -- tying him with Ty Detmer for the Cougars' all-time record.
In what's becoming a troubling trend, Jacory Harris threw four INTs -- two that were returned for touchdowns -- in Miami's 33-24 loss to North Carolina. Harris has thrown nine interceptions in the Canes' past four games, two of which were losses.
The King may not be dead, but he's certainly been dethroned. USC's drubbing at the hands of Stanford ended the Trojans' run of dominance in the Pac-10. No league title, no BCS berth means a lot of head-scratching and soul-searching in Los Angeles.
The game got away from Utah early and TCU effectively ended the contest with three rapid-fire TDs in the second quarter in a 55-28 drubbing. That the Utes had more penalty yards than rushing yards sums up what was a forgettable evening.
The Tar Heels picked off Jacory Harris four times, three coming from Kendric Burney, in a 33-24 win over Miami. It was the third straight win for North Carolina after an 0-3 start in ACC play.
Houston's attempt at another furious fourth-quarter comeback fell short against UCF, as the Cougars lost on the road 37-32. Case Keenum put up gaudy numbers in defeat (337 yards, three TDs) but the loss will surely dampen his Heisman prospects.

1. New Orleans Saints (1): It wasn’t pretty but the Saints remain undefeated after a 28-23 win against the Rams in week 10. QB Drew Brees was human, throwing for 223 yards and two touchdowns as well as two interceptions. RB Reggie Bush had his best game of the season with 98 total yards and two touchdowns. The Saints should win next week to get to 10-0 as they prepare for the Patriots in week 12.
2. Indianapolis Colts (2): I want to re-iterate that I have never seen a team win so many games they didn’t deserve to win. With that said, the Colts are a great team that continue to win and light up the scoreboard. Nobody seems to be talking about an undefeated season for the Colts, but I believe if they can get past the Ravens and Texans in their next two games, they will accomplish the same feat as the 2007 Patriots.
3. Minnesota Vikings (3): Minnesota kept the stranglehold on the NFC North with a win over the Lions. WR Sidney Rice had a huge game with over 200 receiving yards and QB Brett Favre continued his MVP-like season. If Favre can avoid his late season collapse from a year ago, the Vikings will very likely find themselves in the NFC Championship game.
4. Cincinnati Bengals (6): Stand up if you predicted the Bengals would go 4-0 against the Ravens and Steelers this year. I hope nobody stood up, because not even the savviest of football fans could have predicted this. Not only did they grab the top spot in the AFC North, their next three games are against the Raiders, Browns and Lions. If this team can stay distraction-free (this means you Mr. Ochocinco), they can be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
5. New England Patriots (5): I had New England ranked No. 2 at about 11pm eastern time on Sunday night. Less than an hour later, I was in absolute shock at what I had witnessed and had to bring them back to No. 5. Bill Belicheck is without a doubt a hall of fame coach. With that said, he made perhaps the single worst coaching decision I have witnessed in my 20 short years on this earth. Nonetheless, the Patriots offense is back and they are as dangerous as anyone in the league. WR Randy Moss had nine catches for 179 yards and two touchdowns in the loss
....Wilson needs to get over his fears and go out and find an established personnel executive before he hires a coach. At this point the franchise is rudderless, particularly when it comes to evaluating college prospects. Normally scouts look for specific types of players to fit their offensive and defensive systems. Right now no one knows what those are the Bills.
WOW...never thought the DICK would be the first one SHAFTed. Geez, how about Mangini in Cleveland....wow...if you watched MNF....holy crap, how that guy has a job is beyond me. Oakland's situation with CRAPle is tedious at best. Hard to believe once went to the Super Bowl 4 straight years.
....Johnson is moving into a low-profile role. Lewis plans to use him on the scout team in practice, where he would pretend he's the other team's running back. Lewis doesn't expect him to be active for any games soon.
Johnson turns 30 on Thursday, and his production has declined in recent years. The Chiefs let him go following several controversies, releasing him last week on the day he was due back from his second suspension in the last 12 months.
Yet another PROBLEM player going to the Bengals. So far this year though...NO arrests and team is focused. Could be the environment for LJ to flourish...like Ced Benson and Tank Johnson.
The Longhorns could have beaten Central Florida by more, and Colt McCoy could have broken Major Applewhite's school record for passing yards in a game with just three more yards, but Mack Brown allowed George O'Leary's team to maintain some dignity. Besides, a more important record sits on the horizon for McCoy. With a win Saturday at Baylor, McCoy would tie former Georgia quarterback David Greene for the all-time NCAA wins record (42). Last game: Beat Central Florida, 35-3 Next game: Saturday at Baylor
The Gators need to shore up their pass protection before they face Alabama in the national semifinal SEC title game. Florida doesn't have many weaknesses, but the Gators have allowed 22 sacks, and their 2.44 sacks allowed per game ties for 83rd nationally. Florida's line should get some good practice Saturday against Eric Norwood, South Carolina's all-time sack leader. Last game: Beat Vanderbilt, 27-3 Next game: Saturday at South Carolina
Most SEC conspiracy theories are hogwash, but the chestnut floating around Tuscaloosa saying someone wanted to stick it to the Crimson Tide when they made the schedule does seem remotely believable. Alabama's final two SEC games come on the road against teams coming off a bye. The first of those games comes Saturday in Starkville. How important is the bye? Just ask the Tide, who used their bye well to prepare for a win against LSU last week. Last game: Beat LSU, 24-15 Next game: Saturday at Mississippi State
The knock on Cincinnati coming into the season was its inexperience on defense. For eight games, the Bearcats played like veterans. On Saturday against Connecticut, Cincy allowed 461 yards and -- with an assist from some poor punt coverage -- 45 points. The Huskies' Jordan Todman ran for 162 yards and four touchdowns. West Virginia's Noel Devine is better than Todman. Last game: Beat Connecticut, 47-45 Next game: Friday vs. West Virginia
The computers love the Horned Frogs, and the human voters finally have come around as well. TCU can't rise any higher in the BCS standings unless one of the big three loses, but the Horned Frogs can solidify their spot in a BCS bowl if they beat Utah on Saturday and hold serve the rest of the way. Last game: Beat San Diego State, 55-12 Next game: Saturday vs. Utah
People laughed last week when the WAC revealed it had hired a public relations firm to promote Boise State's cause with the BCS. Scoff all you want, but the first story that PR firm pushed suggested the elite teams are running scared of the Broncos, which explains Boise State's lackluster schedule. I still have one question, though. What about the non-elite BCS conference teams? Those guys would kill for a slot on national TV. If Boise had played them instead of Tulsa, it'd be sitting pretty. Last game: Beat Louisiana Tech, 45-35 Next game: Saturday vs. Idaho
Don't think that just because Duke lost to North Carolina, the Blue Devils won't challenge the Yellow Jackets. Teams that primarily pass the ball have their way with Georgia Tech's defense, and Duke's Thaddeus Lewis averages 269.8 yards per game. That may not matter, though, because Georgia Tech's offense has had its way with opposing defenses. Last game: Beat Wake Forest, 30-27 (OT) Next game: Saturday at Duke
The Panthers can thank Navy for the attention they'll receive this week. The national media will descend on Heinz field for the Charlie Weis job watch, but the real show may be Pitt tailback Dion Lewis, the nation's best freshman. Last game: Beat Syracuse, 37-10 Next game: Saturday vs. Notre Dame
It's a testament to Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel that after all the forecasts of gloom and doom, Ohio State is one win away from the Rose Bowl. If the Buckeyes beat Iowa, they would clinch their seventh BCS bowl game in eight seasons. Last game: Beat Penn State, 24-7 Next game: Saturday vs. Iowa
No major poll severely penalized the Tigers for their loss in Tuscaloosa, and with good reason. LSU, playing without its starting quarterback and starting tailback, hung tough with Alabama. Under different circumstances, LSU might be a national title contender. As it is, the Tigers might be the best team playing in a non-BCS bowl. Last game: Lost to Alabama, 24-15 Next game: Saturday vs. Louisiana Tech
...Vince Young will be the Titans' QB beyond this season. Tennessee started 0-6 but has won two straight since Young replaced Kerry Collins. My prediction about him being the long-term answer is not rooted in the back-to-back victories as much as it is in how he has looked: poised, mature, professional.
Here's a couple of MY predictions. The Broncos are NOT for real....Pittsburgh proved that. Pittsburgh is still the team to beat, but Cincy has proven it is up to it. Watch Favre and the Vikes too...that could be a very interesting stretch run for them.
...Abdul-Jabbar became concerned last year after feeling odd sensations. He went for tests at UCLA, where he dominated college basketball in the late 1960s, winning three straight NCAA championships from 1967-69.
"I was getting hot flashes and sweats on a regular basis," he said. "That's not normal, even for my age."
An exam showed his white blood cell count was "sky high" and a doctor quickly diagnosed his condition. At first, all Abdul-Jabbar heard was the word "leukemia."
"I was scared," he said. "I thought it was all the same. I thought it could mean I have a month to live."
"That was my first question," he said. "Was I going to make it?"
When I first heard Kareem had Cancer, I was really bummed. I have heard from many people over the years how Jabbar can be a real jerk, and condescending toward MOST people. When I was covering the Lakers in the late 80's, ... he was anything but to me on the rare occasion I was able to have a one-on-one with the Lakers' great Center. He was cordial, called me by name, and allowed me some modicum of dignity when other members of my media fraternity would cause the "great one" to frown and thrown out a snarl. I always appreciated Kareem and wish him the best in his recovery process.
...The Bengals are coming off the bye week and are playing their third straight home game. Earlier this year, they won at Baltimore, 17-14. Both teams feature quarterbacks who are playing very well.
...In any other week, critics would tear apart Cincinnati, harping on an alarmingly poor defense (462 total yards) and special teams problems (UConn's Robert McClain had an 87-yard punt return touchdown). But the Bearcats picked the perfect week to scuffle, as several other Top 10 teams either also skirted by or got trap-doored.
No. 4 Iowa lost, allowing Kelly's team to move up one spot in the BCS food chain. No. 7 Boise State won a similar shootout at Louisiana Tech, 45-35. No. 8 Oregon gave up 51 points in a loss at Stanford, and No. 10 Georgia Tech needed overtime to beat Wake Forest at home.
Almost every championship team has to get through a scare. So even though the Bearcats had a rare showcase opportunity on ABC in prime-time, all they really needed to do this week was survive, not worry about style points.
I have been around the UC program for a number of years, and this years team is the real deal!! You knew there would be a game this season where certain flaws in the defense would be discovered. BUT c'mon...Brian Kelly had to replace 10-starters after last seasons Orange Bowl team. The last 3-games will be tough. West Virginia (home) Illinois (home) Pittsburgh (road). They win out, they should have a claim to the National Championship Game. Offensively, they are as good or better than ANY team in the country.
...Toby Gerhart and Stanford did to the Oregon defense what the Ducks did a week ago to Southern California, opening up the Pac-10 race with a program-defining victory.
Gerhart ran for a school-record 223 yards and three scores, Andrew Luck threw for two touchdowns and Stanford held on to beat Oregon (No. 8 BCS, No. 7 AP) 51-42 Saturday to become bowl eligible for the first time in eight years.
I think it sucks when the Ducks lose. They have cool uniforms and unique attitudes...plus...anytime you can beat those stuffy-shirted types from Stanford...it is a good day. What a bummer to all Ducks fans.
...After interviewing Peterson, I returned to the field, where I snapped a few photos of a small gash in the field between the 31- and 32-yard lines. A video replay confirmed this was the same spot where Peterson caught McElroy's pass. There is no way to confirm that Peterson's foot made the mark; it could have been made at any point during the game. But judging by video replays, Peterson's left foot -- which landed first -- would have made an identical mark on the disputed play.
But the call stood. LSU lost. Alabama won.
Poor LSU!! When they are winning, everything is fine in the world...when the Football Gods don't smile on them....SOMEONE else is to blame. Screw you...SCORE MORE POINTS!!
...Navy (7-3) did everything it does best Saturday, playing crisp, disciplined, triple-option football. Led by QB Ricky Dobbs, the Middies gashed the Irish defense for 348 rushing yards in a 23-21 victory. Notre Dame, meanwhile, did everything it could possibly do wrong. Its first six trips into the red zone ended in one touchdown, two missed field goals, a fumble, an interception and a turnover on downs.
Say goodbye to Charlie Weiss. Irish Fans are probably happy about that. Clausen can put up the numbers, but is NOT a winner. They'll still be in a decent bowl because of the incestual relationship with NBC and the BCS.... Bleh

Can LSU shake up the SEC race? In one important respect, Alabama and LSU are two similar teams moving in different directions. Built around stout defense and a ball-control approach, Alabama surprised many by opening the season with a new-found propensity for the big play, while LSU surprised exactly no one by struggling mightily to move the ball.
Great questions abound today. Can USC pull its collective head out after last week...WOW. Is Cincy for real? Brian Kelly may be a better coach than Urban Meyer. He has done more (30-6) at UC, with a program that had NO real identity or tradition for football....unlike Florida, where Meyer was expected to not let the ship slip back into dry dock. Kelly has flourished, selling out smallish Nippert Stadium (35K) in almost every game since he arrived. The school is upgrading facilities, and the communitiy is behind the man who has brought football life back into a listless program and a city starved to support a winner. Hell, the program has even pumped life into the BENGALS....the horrible BENGALS, who are currently 5-2 and playing better football than ever. Keep your eyes on that Bearcat bunch...
